The drive from Wyoming into Montana was one for the record books. When we left Wyoming the snow was coming down, slowly but not sticking. By the time we crossed into Montana, the snow was coming down hard and was a complete white out.
Thankfully, this wasn’t Stella’s first encounter with the snow. She got us through safe and sound. The craziest thing was that 15 miles after driving through the blizzard, there was no snow, no rain, no clouds. Pure sunshine and dry land. Are we in the twilight zone?
We were both completely in awe of Montana and it’s beauty and vastness. Now we know exactly what they mean when they call it “big sky country”. The sky goes on and on and on and on. Possibly one of our favorite states we have been to so far.
We spent three days with our new friend Brian and his sweet pup Woodstock on a ranch in Sun Ranch, Montana. Days were cold but full of sun and wandering around gazing at elk and moose and deer and the beauty that surrounded us.
Michelle very much felt brought back to her good ‘ole Southern roots. You should have seen her excitment when we finally found a moose. She loved that sweet little baby – luckily it wasn’t loving her as much and kept his distance.
Nights were spent cooking up homemade dinners, wine and driving miles and miles through the ranch to the natural hot springs. Soaking under the stars and bright moonlight.
Brian has traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad and we loved sharing our stories with him and hearing his. We so look forward to coming back to hang with you again Brian. Thank you for your incredible hospitality and sharing your little piece of heaven with us!
